Gunite Pool Construction

Sprayed concrete construction allows unlimited design freedom. Our specialty method for custom luxury pools that last generations.

Why Choose Gunite Construction

The gold standard in custom pool construction

Ultimate Flexibility

Create any shape, size, or depth. Gunite allows for complete design freedom, from simple rectangles to complex freeform designs with beach entries, tanning ledges, and custom features.

Unmatched Durability

Steel-reinforced gunite creates an incredibly strong structure that lasts for decades. Resistant to ground movement, temperature changes, and the test of time.

Premium Quality

Gunite pools are the choice of luxury homeowners and resorts worldwide. Superior finish options, structural integrity, and long-term value make gunite the premium choice.

What is Gunite?

Gunite is a dry mixture of cement and sand that's pneumatically applied at high velocity through a specialized spray gun. Water is added at the nozzle, creating an incredibly dense, strong concrete that bonds perfectly to steel reinforcement. This process creates a monolithic structure with superior strength and durability.

Unlike traditional poured concrete, gunite is sprayed in layers, allowing for precise control over thickness and shape. This makes it ideal for complex pool designs, vertical walls, and custom features that would be impossible with other construction methods.

The high-velocity application compacts the material, reducing air pockets and creating a denser, stronger structure than traditional concrete. This results in a pool shell that can last 50+ years with proper maintenance.

Gunite Construction Process

Professional installation from excavation to finish

1
Design & Engineering

We create detailed 3D designs and engineering plans specific to your property. Soil analysis, structural calculations, and permit documentation ensure your pool is built to last. Every detail is planned before breaking ground.

Timeline: 2-4 weeks | Includes: Site survey, soil testing, engineering plans, permit applications

2
Excavation & Layout

Precision excavation creates the exact shape and depth specified in your design. We carefully grade the bottom, install drainage systems, and prepare the foundation. Proper excavation is critical for structural integrity.

Timeline: 3-5 days | Includes: Excavation, grading, drainage installation, compaction

3
Steel Reinforcement

A comprehensive steel rebar cage is installed throughout the entire pool structure. This 3D grid of steel reinforcement provides the strength that makes gunite pools virtually indestructible. We use #4 rebar on 12-inch centers for maximum strength.

Timeline: 2-3 days | Includes: Rebar installation, tie wire securing, structural verification

4
Plumbing & Electrical

All plumbing lines, returns, drains, and electrical conduits are installed before gunite application. This includes main drains, skimmers, return lines, and any special features like waterfalls or spa jets. Everything is pressure-tested before proceeding.

Timeline: 2-3 days | Includes: Plumbing installation, electrical conduit, pressure testing, inspection

5
Gunite Application

The gunite mixture is pneumatically sprayed at high velocity onto the steel framework. Our certified nozzlemen apply 8-10 inches of gunite in a single day, creating a monolithic shell. The high-velocity application creates superior density and strength compared to poured concrete.

Timeline: 1 day | Includes: Gunite application, smoothing, initial curing

6
Curing & Tile Work

Gunite cures for 28 days to achieve full strength. During this time, we install waterline tile, coping, and any decorative features. The tile work is precision-set to create beautiful, lasting results.

Timeline: 28 days curing + 3-5 days tile work | Includes: Curing, tile installation, coping, bond beam

7
Interior Finish

Your choice of plaster, pebble, or tile finish is applied to create the final interior surface. We offer numerous colors and textures to match your aesthetic vision. The finish is troweled smooth for a beautiful, comfortable surface.

Timeline: 1-2 days | Options: White plaster, colored plaster, pebble finishes, glass tile

8
Decking & Landscaping

The surrounding deck is installed using your choice of materials - concrete, pavers, travertine, or natural stone. Landscaping completes the transformation, creating your backyard oasis.

Timeline: 1-2 weeks | Options: Stamped concrete, pavers, natural stone, landscaping

9
Equipment & Startup

All pool equipment is installed and tested - pump, filter, heater, automation, and lighting. We fill the pool, balance the chemistry, and provide complete training on operation and maintenance.

Timeline: 2-3 days | Includes: Equipment installation, startup, chemistry balancing, owner training

Total Timeline: 10-14 weeks from start to finish
